IFLA Launches call for Chairs of 6 Working Groups

Today IFLA has launched a call for Chairs for 6 of its working groups. IFLA has several working groups within its four committees.

We are seeking experienced and committed individuals to Chair our Climate Change (PPP Committee), Awards (CER Committee), Congresses (CER Committee), Link (CER Committee), Student Competition (EAACommittee) and Education Capacity Building (EAA Committee) Working Groups. Details of these roles are below.

Call for Chair of IFLA Climate Change Working Group (CC WG)

The IFLA Climate Change Working Groups is part of our Professional Practice and Policy (PPP) Committee. The working group shapes IFLA’s response to climate crises, working collaboratively with IFLA World Regions, and with the 77 National Associations of the World Council, the group seeks to inspire individual and collective action by landscape architects.

Call for Chair of IFLA Awards Working Group (AW WG)

The IFLA Awards Working Groups is part of our Communications and External Relations (CER) Committee.

This is a new working group whose aim is to lead the organisation, development, launch and delivery of the IFLA Awards. The Chair will work with representatives from the 5 IFLA Regions in the group to do this.

Call for Chair of IFLA Link Working Group (L WG)

The IFLA Awards Working Groups is part of our Communications and External Relations (CER) Committee.

The purpose of the Link Working Group is to be in charge of the compilation and generation of all the information IFLA wants to share through its different media of communication:

  • The information to upload the website and IFLA News.

  • The links and important updates of what is going on worldwide.

  • To be in charge of IFLA social media (Twitter, Facebook, Instagram).

  • Prepare IFLA News.

  • To work, feed and keep updated IFLA’s Knowledge Hub.

Call for Chair of IFLA Congresses Group (C WG)

The IFLA Congresses Working Groups is part of our Communications and External Relations (CER) Committee.

This is a new working group whose aim is to contribute to the development and organisation and delivery of the annual IFLA World Congresses. At our latest World Congress delegates approved the revised guidelines for our congresses and this document will therefore steer this work. Please contact us for a copy of this. The Chair will work with representatives from the 5 IFLA Regions in the group.

Call for Chair of IFLA Student Competition Working Group (SC WG)

The IFLA Student Competition Working Group is part of our Education and Academic Affairs (EAA) Committee.

The IFLA Student Competition aims to recognize superior achievements made by students in Landscape Architecture programs and to encourage achievement of the highest standards in landscape architecture education worldwide. Since it aspires to be representative of the full range of the Landscape Architecture profession and education, two (2) new categories were designated in addition to the existing Design category, based on a single theme Analysis & Planning and Research. This competition is delivered by the World Congress hosts however the guidance, focus and strategic direction of this high-profile competition is via the SC Working Group, for whom we now seek a Chair. The SC WG chair shall have prior experience in competition matters, be fluent in English the official language of IFLA and be a well-respected LA practitioner, researcher or educator.

Call for Chair of IFLA Education Capacity Building Working Group (ECB WG)

The IFLA Capacity Building Working Group is part of our Education and Academic Affairs (EAA) Committee.

The IFLA Education Capacity Building Strategy aims to provide a “lifelong education for all” by launching the national associations twinning for continuing education campaign aiming an inclusive education. It equally fosters and promotes the practitioners’ continuing education and building teaching capacity for educators.

The ECB WG chair shall have prior experience in education capacity building, be fluent in English the official language of IFLA and be a well-respected LA practitioner, researcher or educator.

Criteria, Timescales and how to apply

In accordance with the decision of IFLA World Council of 2014 and IFLA’s By Laws, Article 4.6.12. the Chair will be appointed by the members of the standing CER Committee, for the period beginning immediately after the decision is made for a specific, pre-determined time period during which the tasks of the WG are to be progressed and completed.

An IFLA Delegate or IFLA EXCO Officer may submit up to two nominations for each office – before doing this they should consult with and consider the views of your association and former Delegates.

Please, note that no candidate may hold two world offices at the same time. Each Delegate or Officer making a nomination must first secure written consent from the nominee that, if nominated, they will agree to stand for such office. The Written Consent Form provided must be submitted by the Delegate or Officer making a nomination along with the signed Nomination Form, also provided, to admin@iflaworld.org by the deadline stated below.

Each nominee should provide the following documents:

  • Nomination Form

  • Written Consent Form

  • C.V.

  • Statement of Intent (500-words maximum) for the Working Group

  • Draft Action Plan for the Working Group

This should be sent to IFLA Executive Secretary admin@iflaworld.org by SUNDAY 13th of DECEMBER 2020, 17.00 (CEST - Brussels time).
