She has considerable experience in the design and implementation of projects ranging from site planning, master planning for towns, public parks, street designs and institutions.

She also tutors part-time at her alma mater, in the Landscape Architecture department.  Brenda is fascinated by the nexus between research and practice in her civil service work within the critical framework of urban planning which has shaped her research studies over time. Previously, her research and design interests have been on the evolution of trading and the constant struggle of inclusion in post-colonial Nairobi. She is currently working on participatory action research on social innovation in street markets and negotiation in public spaces and transportation corridors in satellite towns in Kenya towards my pre-doctoral studies.

One of her greatest joys is in seeing public spaces transform and spring to life with people and activities, she advocates for inclusion and prioritization of non-motorized transportation facilities in the design of streets in growing Kenyan cities.

She currently chairs the IFLA Africa Professional Practice and Policy (PPP) committee and also serves as the Assistant Secretary Architectural Association of Kenya, Landscape Architects Chapter.
