Gareth Doherty,
Director of the Secretariat
Gareth is a landscape architect, educator, and researcher, and Associate Professor in the Department of Architecture at the National University of Singapore. Gareth’s work explores the intersection of environmental sustainability, social equity, and design. He adopts a human-centred approach to landscape architecture, integrating ethnographic fieldwork and participatory design methods to better understand and shape the relationships between people and their environments. His research challenges conventional design practices by foregrounding issues of identity, cultural space, and the human dimensions of climate change. He is the director of the Critical Landscapes Design Lab.
Diana Weisner
Diana is a Bogotá-based activist, socio-ecological leader, architect, and designer, renowned for her work in urban ecology and landscape architecture. Diana’s projects have received awards and distinctions in numerous national and international architecture and landscape architecture biennials. She is also deeply engaged in the stewardship of Bogotá’s natural systems, an effort through which she has worked to foster civic action and build consensus around a shared vision for the city and its landscape. Diana leads the Children’s Node of the Latin American Landscape Initiative. From 2019 to 2022, she served as chair of the jury for the Jellicoe Award.
Hayriye Esbah-Tuncay
Hayriye Esbah-Tuncay is Professor and Dean of the Faculty of Architecture at Istanbul Technical University, and the Founding Director of HET (Habitat-Ecology-Technology), an Istanbul-based landscape and urban design firm. Hayriye’s professional interests include landscape ecology and its reflections on design, climate change, and adaptation strategies for future cities. Hayriye has led award-winning projects promoting climate sustainability, earning national and international recognition.
